Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival a huge success!
The weather was hot and the music hotter with record crowds

Oakville, ON…The 15th year of the Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival proved to be the best one yet! On Wednesday opening night Grammy legend Chuck Mangione took to the stage at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts with a sold out show. Performing songs he arranged for The Olympics at Lake Placid, his mother and many other hits, audiences were not missing a note. Celebrating their 25 anniversary, the Yellowjackets performed the following night and wowed the audience. The festival had record crowds on Saturday filling Towne Square and Centennial Stage. The scene was buzzing and the weather hot and sunny. Aromas of the outdoor patio cuisine enticed festival goers and there was even some dancing in the streets.

"This year's festival was a combination of amazing weather, sounds and vibes of music and togetherness"-Ronnie Brown, Jazz Festival Committee

Bell Youth in the Spotlight proved once again to be a crowd favourite. The show started with 10 year old Isaiah tearing the roof off with his powerful drums performance. Many genres were showcased within ages 5-18 and audiences were dazzled at the level of music skills and showmanship the young artists had. Kids also enjoyed the festival with face painting, glo sticks and cotton candy. In the evening, Canadian singing sensation, Molly Johnson drew a record crowd at the Centennial stage and the audience was the first to hear the exciting news; Molly Johnson was given the distinct honour, the Order of Canada as crowds applauded.

"The Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival was a great audience! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and appreciated the audience response to our music, Oakville is hip!"-David MacDougall-Dementia 4
